Mako Eyewear Races In New Zealand

The first round of the 2015 Aussie Racing Cars Series was in the town of Cromwell, 30 minutes out of the adventure city of Queenstown in New Zealand's South Island. This was the first international event in the history of Aussie Racing Cars.

The track was a combination of fast, slow and twisty sections that really test the drivers. Peter struggled early in practice and qualifying with the car just not coming off the corners strongly. After a bit of diagnosis, it was found that the rear brakes were sticking on and hampering the car. After a qick fix replacing the rear brake system, in race 1 Peter stormed to 2nd place, setting the fastest lap, a great result. Race 2 was a fierce battle between the 3 leading cars, and after making contact with another car Peter's 3rd place finish was later subject to a penalty. This put Peter starting near the rear of field for race 3, where he carved his way through the pack to finish a great 8th. Race 4 was a complete reverse grid race with handicap starts. So starting way back in the field, and with the leading cars getting up to 15 seconds head start, Peter stormed to a great top 10 finish. The 5th and final race was a disappointing end, with the same brake issues hampering Peters car and ability to fight for a win,

"Its really frustrating to finish like this. We thought we had fixed the brake issues, but clearly they have not been resolved. In this last race I was dropping back about 6 car lengths on every straight, which makes it very frustrating".

Peter is taking a break from some of the up coming Aussie Car rounds, and will next be in the car at the round in August at Sydney Motorsport Park. But stay tuned!! Peter has an announcement soon about another exciting racing opportunity! We can't say much at the moment, but get ready to see some mud and air time!
