New Challenge For Peter Carr Racing
In 2015 Mako Sunglasses race driver Peter Carr has taken on a new challenge, racing in the Polaris RZR Australian Championship. This is a motorcross style, ofoffroad racing class in the Polaris side x side buggies. A new class of racing in Australia, these buggies are insane! With close racing action, clearing 20 foot table top jumps, launching 6 feet in the air, the entertainment is clear to see.
Having only raced circuit cars before, predominately in the Mako Sunglasses Aussie Racing Car, Peter entered the series with very little expectations. Having taken delivery of his car the night before the very first race in Wollongong, Peter entered the event with never even having driven one of these buggies.
"It was certainly a baptism of fire! The track was crazy, with all the rain we had had it was a bog hole! I was happy to get through the day with no damage and I felt comfortable pushing the car by the end of the day".
By round two in Albury, Peter had started to get the hang of it. Taking out a couple of wins and second places, Peter was well placed for a podium result. However in the last race he had a mechanical failure which dropped him off the podium. It was still a great day and a big confidence booster for Peter. His luck soon changed in Canberra, taking out 4 race wins and 1 second, Peter won the round in only his third day driving one of these buggies.
Round 4 was a close fought battle, with Peter getting a puncture in his last race, but still ending the day in equal 3rd. With two rounds to go, Peter sits in equal 3rd in the championship,
"I can't wait for the last two rounds. It's sure to be a close finish to the series, and at this point I couldn't be happier with being in 3rd place".
Stay tuned for more updates soon on how Peter goes in the final stages of the championship. And don't forget to check out Fox Sports on 20-22 August for the return of the Mako Sunglasses Aussie Racing Car at the V8 Supercars round at Sydney's Sydney Motorsport Park.
